Since the beginning of the year, 21-year-old Cape Town-based singer-songwriter Cailyn Shelby has garnered a massive amount of success in a very short space of time. From radio interviews to major television appearances, and now three singles released in 2023 alone, she is taking the nation by storm.

After the success of her recent hit "Best Mistake" which is currently still circulating the airwaves, and her moving ballad "No Longer Me & You" (still charting on MixFM Top 40 and featured on Apple Music’s Future Hits) she's back with her third single for 2023, titled "Call
Me", which continues the lead-up to the release of her debut LP. The song is a happy-go-lucky pop-rock-infused gem with easy-listening undertones.
Following the charting of her previous singles "My Four Friends" (Number 1 hit on Jacaranda FM) and "Best Mistake" (Debuted within iTunes Top 10 and awarded her a cover feature on the renowned Spotify Salt Playlist), she continues to use her prolific song-writing ability to open up about relationships that didn’t go as planned, not being afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve.
She explains the comical inspiration behind the song which was produced by platinum-
selling producer Daniel Baron. "I wrote it after a string of personal, painfully honest songs. I
was sick of being down and writing about heartbreak and pain, I wanted to write something fun and joking, making fun of myself and a situation.” Forty minutes later she had a new song on her hands, and she says she was in a much better mood too.
“I love how tongue-in-cheek the whole song is and how it progressively gets more unhinged.”
Cailyn continues to surprise audiences with her prolific ability to conjure up songs from all corners of her heart, all with a different mood and sonic aroma attached to them.
Her writing is mature and introspective, yet she uniquely brings it back down to earth with relatable lyrics, imagery, and honest vocalisation – a trait that makes her stand out as not only an artist but a great writer too.
Cailyn explains that working with hitmaker Daniel Baron helped her encapsulate exactly
what she was feeling. “I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work on these songs
with,” Cailyn says.
Daniel also explains that working with Cailyn has certainly been a highlight for him. “From
day one, Cailyn and I have been on the exact same wavelength. We created an entire album of music in a really quick period of time,” Baron shares adding that "Call Me" is the third of a golden thread of pop gems set to be released by Cailyn this year.
